Baby lamb and mother wear masks

We are all in this together and that includes our animals. Well, it’s just an illustration but you get the idea. If you hate wearing a mask and don’t believe in the visus, please respect those that do. If you care. you will wear your mask and take care that your animals will set a good example. This drawing is on lots of stuff here.

The Giving Christmas Tree

reworking of an analog drawing, now digital

I have always liked the saying “To give is to receive”. I think it’s because this has come true in my life so many times. I gave it a light and whimsical font to keep in the mood with the subject matter. The sketches were done very quickly with pen and ink on a sketch pad. They are in no order of importance on the tree. I think I laid them out digitally according to size. They represent things I have always held dear to my daily life, wherever I lived, worked or played.
There are plants, herbs, animals, dishes, quilts, furniture, an old fashioned windowsill, balloons, flowers in vases, a bumblebee, a big bow, a little cow, afternoon tea and of course a can of soup.

Happy Halloween with jack-o-lanterns

A little girl with miniature jack-o-lanterns. Of course my horse. She needs to light the way into the night. She is painted with watercolor and pencil and various digital textures. She can be found on a poster or a greeting card or a coffee mug. Really? Absolutely.
I wanted to show a little bit of process here. Sometimes an idea goes through many changes. This is a typical example for me of how I like to modify and experiment. Here’s a link to my products with the final design.

A Day in the Life of an artist

Artists view themselves pretty differently than the way the world in general sees them.  I am bringing you a little series I originally drew sometime in the mid 1980’s.  Pretty old, huh.  I found the sketches packed away in some dusty box.  I brought them into my computer and am redrawing them on my Cintique tablet.

I think this will be a lot of fun to create a new take on an old issue of how artists view themselves.  Young or old, beginner or master, artists are colorful people.  Their personalities are reflected in what they make and do.  I tend to be kind of goofy sometimes and that is the best part of me I believe.

So here goes a new way of sketching.  Enjoy.

Here’s my link to find this image on a bunch of stuff you might want to buy.  I can’t ship anything from Mexico reasonably, practically or otherwise and for this reason, I use POD sites.

Goofing with hand lettering

IMG_0117-WIP-whatUlike

Back to the drawing and painting workspace.  Now that the major remodel has been done on my sweet little village house, and, now that I’m recovering from exhaustion, it is time to goof around and play a little.  I have an idea in my head for another series to be done simultaneously with the almost extinct animals of Mexico.  It’s about painting what you want to paint.  So this is a note to begin.  I will use a digital font for the art but this is just to break the ice and sit at this wonderful table.
I have lots of light here and room to spread out so it’s nothing but fun.  My internet is extremely poor and slow, but I’m hanging in there for a better day.  I have a hundred ideas for this “paint what you love” series.  If you have a suggestion for what you think I should love to paint, feel free and jump in.
