A B and C alphabet party kids

Once again I find myself working with the alphabet. I think it’s my destiny. I have closed my office door because the cats have captured some poor critter under my rolling tool cabinet. I never thought living in this sweet place would yield me so much wildlife havoc with my loving, merciless cats. Lately they are constant hunters. I don’t mind as they have caught quite a few mice and a couple of rats and a hefty squirrel. sigh
So back to the design of the day. I’ve been working on coloring my line art. This is a png file slightly reworked. View the collection on my products.
It’s kind of hard to jump around the world marketplace especially with so many venues and so many millions of designers. I have added another POD site which is very useful as it gives me additional perspective. Consider that people seem to care only for trends and that is now the name of the game. Overwhelming. Redbubble has six million views a month and I think Amazon merch has over 20 million a month. That is more than my little brain can absorb. So I press on because I am doing what I really enjoy so that’s what I’m doing during the pandemic. I do what I can with what I have. I think that’s a line from “The Aristocats” movie, somewhere in the ’70. Maurice Chevalier and Za Za Gabor voice overs. delightful music I remember.

Goofing with hand lettering

IMG_0117-WIP-whatUlike

Back to the drawing and painting workspace.  Now that the major remodel has been done on my sweet little village house, and, now that I’m recovering from exhaustion, it is time to goof around and play a little.  I have an idea in my head for another series to be done simultaneously with the almost extinct animals of Mexico.  It’s about painting what you want to paint.  So this is a note to begin.  I will use a digital font for the art but this is just to break the ice and sit at this wonderful table.
I have lots of light here and room to spread out so it’s nothing but fun.  My internet is extremely poor and slow, but I’m hanging in there for a better day.  I have a hundred ideas for this “paint what you love” series.  If you have a suggestion for what you think I should love to paint, feel free and jump in.

Axolotl – the water monster

axolotl-endangered

Axolotl means water monster among the Nahuatl tribeIt is possible to find this animal in the floating gardens of Xochimilco,a borough within Mexico City.  However, there arefewer specimens that actually exist in the wild. Most water monsters now live in aquariums throughout the world. I is often called a salamander. They are usually 20 to 30 cm. long.

The most striking thing about the axootl is not only its appearance and the variety of colors it comes in, but the fact that it is able to regenerate its own cellular tissues.  It can change its own colors. Due to water contamination and the use of this animal for medicinal purposes, there has been a huge decrease in its specimen count. It is almost extinct.

I am not a Chiwawa dog in Spanish

chiwawa'nosoy-card

This little guy is a welsh corgi.  Of course he is.  Once upon a time a little girl wanted him strictly because she thought he was one of cute Mexican dogs they call a chiwawa.

He made a little ruffled bark and told her, “No, I am not a chiwawa dog.”  She took him
home anyway.  They lived happily ever after.

I have combined my  love of fonts; this one is Dino Kids, with pencil sketching and digital ribbon and bow, drawn on my Cintique by Wacom.  enjoy.  purchase
