Fish Paisley, b&w and color

fish-paisley-color-webfish-2-paisley-bw-web.copy

Fish are one of my favorite subjects lately.  They are accommodating and generous.  They let me play all I want to with their shapes and patterns.  This will be fun to paint in watercolor.  This is another page in my WIP coloring book.  Soon it will come together.  Wish me luck.

If you like it in black and white the way you see it here, there’s another option for your custom laptop setting.

If you want it in color here it is.

Fish Number 1, flying solo

fish-1-bw.-web

This is one of several fish that is hand drawn from my imagination.  The world is fun when you can create a place where “troubles melt like lemon drops”.

The process:  Once this little fellow gets plopped into a collection of black and white illustrations, then I transfer his image to watercolor paper and hand color it.  The two versions of my book (one black and white and one color), give me a great option for two audiences. All it takes is twice the work. ha ha I feel like a kid again, but with technical tools.

If you are interested, this artwork is for sale on my online store in both paper and textile and metal.

New Mexico Street Scene

NM-street-scene-web

Street scene in New Mexico. Truthfully, it could be any town u.s.a.
It’s the colors that make it all about the southwest.  And don’t forget the planters with big agave spikes reaching upward.   I don’t know about you, but I love strolling down this kind of place.

This artwork is for sale through my online shop.

Illustrations

This is a drawing/illustration for a coloring book. This is my version of the world I would like to enjoy while I color.colorbook-girl-forest-web..jpg

The process of taking a line art illustration that has been drawn by hand on to a piece of white paper is more difficult than it would appear.

I would love to spend days coloring the line art with different pallets, depending on my mood.  But actually, that’s what artists do all the time, don’t we.

Illustrations for fun

secret-place-webI have been illustrating since I was 10.  It is just something that I have always done; like cooking.  Many people told me that illustrating was not as legitimate as painting. ugh.

Now, fast forward many years later and I  realize I was on target after all.  Don’t believe what you hear and little of what you read.  I will always illustrate and it’s fate that I combine several styles. I am a mix and have always been a mix.

Here’s a work in progress.  Check back to see  how she goes. wip-colorbook.jpg
