Fish Number 1, flying solo

fish-1-bw.-web

This is one of several fish that is hand drawn from my imagination.  The world is fun when you can create a place where “troubles melt like lemon drops”.

The process:  Once this little fellow gets plopped into a collection of black and white illustrations, then I transfer his image to watercolor paper and hand color it.  The two versions of my book (one black and white and one color), give me a great option for two audiences. All it takes is twice the work. ha ha I feel like a kid again, but with technical tools.

If you are interested, this artwork is for sale on my online store in both paper and textile and metal.

New Mexico Street Scene

NM-street-scene-web

Street scene in New Mexico. Truthfully, it could be any town u.s.a.
It’s the colors that make it all about the southwest.  And don’t forget the planters with big agave spikes reaching upward.   I don’t know about you, but I love strolling down this kind of place.

This artwork is for sale through my online shop.

Illustrations for fun

secret-place-webI have been illustrating since I was 10.  It is just something that I have always done; like cooking.  Many people told me that illustrating was not as legitimate as painting. ugh.

Now, fast forward many years later and I  realize I was on target after all.  Don’t believe what you hear and little of what you read.  I will always illustrate and it’s fate that I combine several styles. I am a mix and have always been a mix.

Here’s a work in progress.  Check back to see  how she goes. wip-colorbook.jpg

Birdhouses

Birdhouses-WEB

These birdhouses are made of recycled materials found in anybody’s garden shed.  Whether wood or discarded metal fixtures or old roofing materials, the birds enjoy the shelter.

They are feeding on a gigantic sunflower center.  I took a little artistic license with the scale of the seed pod…because I can.  Moths and butterflies join in on the party.

The pen and ink is done in India Ink and an old fashioned crowquill pen nib.  The original is drawn on Bristol board paper, and has been sold but read on to purchase the image on various mediums.

This artwork is available on my Red Bubble POD site.  Click the picture to go there and purchase prints or accessories.
